The short version: We collect your email address when you sign up. Your job notes are sent to the AI to generate stories but are not stored on our servers. We don't sell your data to anyone. Ever.
Who we are
AutoStories is an AI-powered story writing tool for automotive service advisors, operated by an Australian sole trader based in Adelaide, South Australia. If you have any questions about this policy, email us at [email protected].
What information we collect
We collect the following information when you use AutoStories:
- Email address — collected when you sign up for a free account, used to send you product updates and subscription information
- Workshop name and advisor name — entered during setup, stored locally on your device only
- Job notes and vehicle details — entered when generating stories, sent to the AI for processing only, not stored on our servers
- Story history — stored locally in your browser's local storage on your own device, not on our servers
- Usage data — basic analytics including page views and feature usage via Google Analytics
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details
How we use your information
- To provide and improve the AutoStories service
- To send you important product updates and service emails
- To process your subscription payments via Stripe
- To understand how the product is being used so we can improve it
- To contact you about your account or subscription
Your job data & AI processing
When you generate a story, your vehicle details and job notes are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI API for processing. This data is used only to generate your story and is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We do not store your job notes on our own servers.
Your story history is saved locally in your browser using localStorage. This data lives only on your device and is not transmitted to us.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use AutoStories — including which pages are visited and how long people spend on the site. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information to third parties. We share data only with:
- Anthropic — to process your job notes and generate stories via Claude AI
- Stripe — to process subscription payments
- Web3Forms — to forward email signup notifications to us
- Google Analytics — for anonymous usage analytics
Data storage and security
Your email address is stored securely. Your job notes, workshop name, advisor name and story history are stored locally on your own device and are never transmitted to our servers. We use industry-standard security practices and HTTPS encryption for all data transmission.
Your rights
Under Australian Privacy law and general best practice, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

Children's privacy
AutoStories is a professional tool intended for adults working in the automotive industry. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of any significant changes via email. Continued use of AutoStories after changes means you accept the updated policy.

The short version: Use AutoStories professionally and honestly. Pay for Pro if you want unlimited stories. Don't try to abuse the system. We can cancel accounts that violate these terms.
Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using AutoStories ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users of AutoStories, including free and paid subscribers.
Description of service
AutoStories is a subscription-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) tool that uses artificial intelligence to generate customer-facing work done stories for automotive service advisors. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
Free and paid plans
Free Plan: Allows up to 10 AI-generated stories per month at no charge. No credit card is required for the free plan.
Pro Plan: Allows unlimited AI-generated stories per month for a subscription fee of $49 AUD per month (or as otherwise displayed at the time of subscription). Payment is processed securely by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically each month until cancelled.
Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through the billing portal. Upon cancellation, your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer pro-rata refunds for partial months. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 14 days at [email protected].
Acceptable use
You agree to use AutoStories only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with its intended use as a professional automotive service tool. You must not:
- Use the Service to generate false, misleading or fraudulent customer communications
- Attempt to circumvent the free plan story limit through any technical means
- Share your account credentials with other workshops or users
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable or impair the platform
- Attempt to reverse engineer or extract the underlying AI prompts or systems
- Resell or white-label the Service without our written permission
AI-generated content
The stories generated by AutoStories are produced by artificial intelligence based on the job notes you provide. You are responsible for reviewing all generated content before using it with customers. AutoStories does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or suitability of any generated story for any particular purpose.
You retain full ownership of the stories generated using your job notes. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your generated content.
Accuracy and professional responsibility
AutoStories is a writing assistance tool only. The AI generates stories based solely on the information you provide. You remain professionally responsible for the accuracy of all information communicated to your customers. Always review generated stories before sending them to customers.
Service availability
We aim to maintain high availability of the Service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to notify users of planned maintenance where possible.
Intellectual property
AutoStories, its name, logo, design and underlying software are the intellectual property of the operator. The 1,000+ pre-loaded job templates included in the Service are proprietary content created for AutoStories and may not be extracted or reproduced outside of the Service.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, AutoStories and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms of Service excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or other term or condition, implied or imposed by the Australian Consumer Law which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms of Service. We will endeavour to provide notice where reasonably possible. If your account is terminated due to a breach of these terms, no refund will be issued.
Changes to terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email. Continued use of AutoStories after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Governing law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia.
